The Royal Monastery of Brou in Bourg-en-Bresse (pronounce the first part Bourk as they do locally) is France’s answer to the Taj Mahal, a Flamboyant Gothic masterpiece with a colourfully tiled roof built in the early XVth century as a mausoleum in memory of a beloved spouse and the only such building in France.
